Any form of divination and fortune telling is intriguing, whether it is the through the popular use of Astrology or the unusual practice of Crystal Ball reading. Learning, understanding and practicing any form of psychic occult takes time one of the easier things to learn in regards to divination is Tarot. Tarot as a form of divination has gained immense popularity all over the world.

There is a lot of speculation about the origin of Tarot cards. We do know that the Tarot cards were used in the mid-14th century in different parts of Europe especially by the Spanish gypsies, mostly for playing card games. The use of the tarot card as a medium for divinatory and mystic studies emerged only as recently as the late 18th century.
What we know as Tarot today, has completely evolved form of the Tarot playing cards used in the earlier centuries. Today, Tarot is considered as an efficient medium for spiritual revelations - through derivation of tarot card meanings based on the layout of cards - about the past, present and future of the individual to whom the cards are dealt. Today’s Tarot mainly consists of 78 pictorial cards that help analyze patterns and predict changes that can show direction based on these patterns.

The deck consists of 56 cards, called the Minor Arcana that align with ordinary playing cards and are divided into four suits – mostly Swords, Cups, Wands and Pentacles. They somewhat relate to the 2 black and 2 reds of a normal playing deck (clubs, hearts, spades and diamonds) .Each suit also has a Royal family starting with the King, Queen, Knight and Page. The pack furthermore contains 22 numbered cards the Major Arcana which show us the bigger human processes. These 22 numbered cards have many symbolical meanings that help us derive tarot meanings in a Tarot reading.

Many people are interested in revealing the mysteries of the unknown and studying the relationship between the inner and outer realities for personal growth and enhancement. A person need not necessarily possess psychic powers to learn and practice tarot. Learning the Tarot requires a deep understanding of the cards and a strong belief in one’s own intuition and most importantly, the willingness to develop that intuition into a natural form of practice.

There are many tarot courses available, online and one-to-one, that can help you learn the powerful uses and apply the many benefits of Tarot for enhancing your own and others’ lives. A tarot course usually consists of first learning the basics and then gradually moving to more detailed and deeper aspects of Tarot practice. With the availability and ease of access of the internet, learning tarot online has also become a very popular method. Most courses focus on understanding the meaning of the Tarot cards and their applications and then move onto conducting readings, which you can practice yourself.

The first step to learning Tarot is buying a good tarot deck (the easiest deck to start with is the Rider-Waite Tarot deck) and next is to find a good tarot teacher, online or somewhere in your vicinity. Learning tarot yourself can help you to unlock the mysteries of these age old cards. And who knows, in future, you might even end up teaching Tarot to the world!
