Why Do People Prefer Glass Teapots?
Total Articles: 7959
Tea has been drunk for thousands of years across many civilizations. It is used in ceremonies and as a traditional drink in many Asian countries but the west has also taken to tea drinking with a passion. Teapots are available in a variety of materials. They are available in cast iron, clay, steel and glass. Though some people prefer using the cast iron and clay ones, teapots made of glass are also extremely popular. There are several reasons for this. Glass teapots are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.
The one you pick will be dependent on the number of people you will be brewing tea for.The best way to do this, is to buy one or two smaller teapots and a couple of larger ones. You can use the smaller ones when you need to serve just a couple of people and bring out the larger glass teapots from the cabinets when you have company and need to steep larger quantities of tea. One of the main reasons why people buy glass teapots from wholesale tea merchants is because they are cheaper. You can see the tea even as it steeps and releases its color and flavor in the warm water.
Some tea leaves will pop while others will unfurl gently. There are a large number of blooming or flowering teas that are a pleasure to watch as you steep them in a glass teapot. The experience is a very unique one and watching the flowers unfurl before your eyes is part of the pleasure of drinking an exotic tea. The one thing you need to keep in mind is that these glass teapots will not really hold heat very well. The cast iron ones tend to retain the heat. And so, if you prefer using a glass teapot, you might want to consider using a teapot warmer.
Wholesale tea merchants stock a variety of these as well. Another point to keep in mind is that if you are the clumsy type or one who can’t be bothered with being delicate, you might want to give glass teapots a miss. They are definitely more fragile than clay or cast iron ones. Having said that, every tea connoisseur will have a few glass teapots in his/her collection. Nothing can compare to the pleasure of watching exotic blooms open up in slow motion inside the teapot. Just watching them as you wait for the tea to steep is a relaxing and unique experience.
The visual factor becomes all the more important when you are serving tea socially. You may be entertaining friends or maybe you are one who is of an aesthetic bent of mind. From a practical viewpoint, glass teapots are very easy to clean and maintain. You simply put them in the dishwasher as you would any other dishes or glass containers. Though glass teapots look very delicate, the borosilicate glass that they are made of, makes them very strong and durable. They are able to sustain a lot of heat and will not crack at high temperatures.
