The Rules to Matching Color and Skin Tones
So you have decided to do fashion jewelry wholesale such as fashion earrings. The next question is which color to select. With the range of diamond colors, not even including the secondary hues, this process may seem daunting. However, there are a few tricks to simplifying the decision. After all, the diamond selection process should be as enjoyable as the pleasure derived from wearing them.
The color of the diamond you select and the color of its setting should be best suited to your skin tone. There are two main designations of skin tone – cool and warm. So, how do you ascertain your skin tone?
Find Your Skin Tone
People with cool skin tones have bluish colored veins, naturally blonde, brown, or black hair, blue, green, or gray eyes, and a pink or ruddy complexion. The majority of people fall under this skin tone category.
People with warm skin tones have greenish colored veins, naturally red, strawberry blonde, rust, or orange hair, brown, black, or hazel eyes, and a yellow or fairer complexion.
Jewelry to Match Your Tone
Jewelry that best suits cool skin tones includes metals with a silver accent. Given that silver is not precious enough to be used as a setting for fancy color diamonds, that leaves white gold, platinum, and palladium as appropriate metals for the setting.
The most suitable diamond colors include?Pink Diamonds, Purple Diamonds, Blue Diamonds, Red Diamonds, Violet Diamonds, or any combination thereof, such as magenta. Other possible diamond colors include Black, Gray, and Fancy White Diamonds.
Jewelry that best suits warm skin tones includes metals with a gold accent. For the setting of fancy color diamonds that would include yellow gold. The most suitable colors of diamond include the earth colors of yellow, champagne, green, chameleon, and orange.
The Exception to the Rule
Still, there are people who have characteristics of both cool and warm skin tones. For example, there are people categorized as having a cool skin tone who have a slightly darker skin but with eye color varying from light blue to dark brown. These people may have light or dark hair.
Confusing? Not really. Like every rule, there are exceptions to the rule. These people just have a broader range of metals and diamonds from which to make their selection.
Face Shape and Earring Selection
By now you should have ascertained your skin tone; however, especially when selecting earrings, it is imperative to know the shape of your face. Since earrings are effectively accessories for your face and frame your face, their style should best complement your shape of face.
Faces generally fall into the following range of shapes – round, heart-shaped, oval, square, long, triangular, and even diamond-shaped. For each shape of face there is an appropriate style of diamond. Match your face shape with your skin tone to select the perfect pair of fancy color?diamond earrings.
Round faces need shapes that contrast with the roundness, such as straight or long earrings that add angles to the face. Even slightly curved earrings will provide the required variance in shape. Perfectly suited to round faces are drop earrings. Square, rectangular, and oval earrings also make for a good selection but it is best not to wear studs, round, or chunky earrings.
Heart shaped faces require earrings with a shape that widens at the bottom such as teardrops or triangle shaped earrings. This contrasts with the heart shape. It is best not to wear heart-shaped earrings or earrings that taper at the end as these shapes are too similar to the shape of the face.
People with oval faces have the most diverse selection as almost anything suits this face shape - studs, hoops, spirals, and chandeliers. The choice is yours and the world is your earring! Although even long, thin earrings can be worn with oval faces, they are best avoided as other styles are better suited.
As round faces need the contrast of angles, square faces need the contrast of roundness or angular earrings.? Most types of earring go with square shaped faces, excluding square earrings. Long dangly earrings add length to a square face as do hoops.
Long faces are best complemented with studs or chandelier earrings. Circular and square earrings add width to a long face. The trick with selecting earrings for a long face is to add width without making it look too full.
Triangle shaped faces require small round or long oval earrings to soften the angles. Look for earrings that end in a curve rather than a point and avoid triangle shaped earrings.
Diamond shaped faces are best complemented by short and wide earrings that include a line and some curves. Studs and drop earrings are also very fetching on a diamond shaped face. It is best to steer clear of long and thin earrings.
The beauty of fancy color diamonds is that there are colors to suit everyone. Whether you have a cool skin tone that works with Pink Diamonds, a warm skin tone that works with?Champagne Diamonds, or something in between, there is a sublime stone in a perfect color to suit every taste. Of course, all color diamonds can be set in a manner to show off every face shape to best advantage.
