When you are getting ready to go to college you should make a list of things that you need to take with you. Being ready for school is key. If you are away at college, far from home, this is even more important.
Get yourself a good water bottle to bring to school. You need to be hydrated all day. This is especially important if you have several classes back-to-back and don't have time to eat. If you drink water, you will be able to stay on top of your classes. Use water fountains to easily refill your water bottle.
Take the time to exercise or take a walk and keep physically active. You can meet other active college students and workout. You can broaden your social circle and find workout buddies.
Try to avoid using a credit card, but if you must, pay it off each month if possible. This will keep you from incurring late fees. If you can, use credit cards for emergencies only. While you may be tempted to use it for pleasure, understand that you are in college to learn, not play. Don't let yourself become distracted by financial woes.
You are living by yourself and making your own food. Eat healthily, sleep enough, and keep your living area clean. Schedule equal time for attending classes, studying, recreation and taking care of yourself. Bad habits and a bad diet will affect both your health and your grades.
To steer clear of freshman weight gain, closely monitor your carbohydrate intake. Avoid eating unhealthy foods. Rely on fresh produce, whole grains and solid meals that will boost energy effectively. Try not to build your diet just around protein, as that is not optimal for your health.
Make sure you choose your classes wisely and do not just pick easy subjects. Stretching yourself has its rewards. You will get much more out of the education you pursue.
Look at your professors as if they are your friends. Professors are the ultimate resource and can do a lot to help you along the way. Be sure to help if the opportunity presents itself and ask a lot of questions. Your grades and the opportunities you are offered will be better if you take the time to build good relationships with your professors.
Take notes in class. Taking notes helps you learn the information given. You will be able to better remember the information when you study. Even if you feel like you know the information, make a habit of writing these types of notes.
