From the ashes of destruction arose the sprouts of innovation. The Sony Corporation is a Japan-based multinational conglomerate firm that currently has its head office situated in Konan Minato, Tokyo, Japan. From the ravages of war, the firm started off as a humble radio repair store after World War II in the Nihonbashi district of Tokyo by Masaru Ibuka, the building that housed this operation was tattered by bombarding.

After the initiation of the project on the 7th of May, 1946, Ibuka partnered with Akio Morita and they founded Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo a.k.a. Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering Corporation, and went on to design Japan’s first tape recorder which was coined Type-G. Ibuka’s ventures in the United States during the early 50’s made him stumble upon the transistor, an invention made by Bell Labs, he then persuaded Bell to grant a licence for the use of this technology for communicational use by his Japanese company. The company then published the first commercially successful transistor radio called the TR-63, this apparatus, being a predecessor to their scope of technology and diversification of inventions, ...
... gained copious commercial acclaim and popularity among American teens which thrust their sales from an approximate of 100,000 in the year of 1955 to an estimated 5 million pieces by the end of 1968, hence establishing its intrinsic application to trivial living and recreation, and paving a path bound for greatness.

By this time the company was referred to differently as the founders decided to give a new identity to their firm, Sony, which is a fusion of the latin term Sonus meaning sound and Sonny which was an American slang term for a young boy, was the new face of TTK which would go on to become one of the most commercially prosperous companies of all time.

Infamous for their electronic creations of ingenuity, notably; the Walkman, VAIO, Cyber-Shot, Alpha, Playstation and more, this corporate giant has taken its endeavours into fruition in the audio, video, computing, computer entertainment, finance, medical-related, semiconductor and electronic components, music entertainment, picture entertainment and mobile communications businesses.

With such a versatile repertoire, Sony capitalized on communications, prominently, as a link between people and modern technology as an evident truth of dynamism.
Targeting mobile technology, Sony mobile communications was formed as a subsidiary of Sony Corporation. Currently a multinational mobile company, it was formed on October 1, 2001, as an amalgamation between Sony and Ericsson, a swedish-based telecommunications company, contributing to an appropriated name of Sony Ericsson. By early 2012 Sony acquired Ericsson’s share in the joint venture, thereby becoming the sole owner.

Sony Ericsson, during its years of infancy, apart from connectivity, focused on digital photography and multimedia availability as their forte. By the year 2009 they will have gone on to come out with the first 12 megapixel camera phone named Satio, this phone ran on a Symbian OS 9.4.

During the early 2000s Sony Ericsson published phone series’ that had varying Unique Selling Points (USPs); the BRAVIA, Walkman, Cyber-shot, UIQ and the GreenHeart range were such brand lines that emphasized on an assorted spectrum of USPs.

By 2008 Sony Ericsson unveiled their first Xperia series phone which was namely called XPERIA X1. Contemporarily, Sony has come to be known as itself in the mobile industry by alleviating the Ericsson association which is now a part and parcel of Sony.

Sony’s Xperia range has morphed into a powerful bit of smartphone technology which has exceptional design, remarkable performance and entertainment capacities, therefore gaining much consumer praise.
