Total Articles: 7959
Any baseball card collector will tell you that the one thing that a hardcore player will want is a complete set of trading cards. No matter how many companies come and go, Topps is the topmost card collectible brand in the world. Every year the company manufactures a basic series of cards with numbers. The set is considered to be complete when the collector acquires every single card in the series. It takes a great deal of attention and patience to complete a series of trading cards. There is some method that you have to follow with completing a set.
Most of the boxes and packs have a mention of the number of cards in the set. If you are not too sure, you should visit the official Topps website, click on “sports” and then on the tab that says “brands”. For instance, if you want to complete the Road to World Cup 2014 set of cards which is probably the latest available at the moment, you go online and do a search. In addition to the basic details, what is also mentioned is the list of all cards in a particular set by the name of the player as well as by card number.
Alternatively, if your Road to World Cup 2014 set of cards is incomplete, you can go online and check on football card trading websites. You might end up finding another player who wants to trade in other cards that he/she has for one that you are looking for. Another great way of acquiring the cards you need is to buy different packs of opened baseball cards from Topps. You can buy these from baseball card dealers or even from retail outlets. These places will sell 10-box cases or entire boxes in their stores and also help collectors look for specific cards they need to complete a set.
If you feel that you will be able to trade off the other cards after you have found the one you need, buy just a couple of boxes. Set them on a surface that has a large amount of space. Place all the cards face down on the table and them start sorting them by number. The number will always be on one corner of the card. Once you have all the cards placed in this manner, start stacking the ones that belong to a particular series. Check the total number of cards that a series is meant to have. You can do this via the Topps website.
When you start stacking the cards, start with the lowest number. If you find that you have doubles, place those aside. Those are the ones that you can exchange later. Stack those separately. Once you have all the cards stacked in this manner make a note of the ones that are missing. To fill in the gaps, go ahead and trade cards, buy additional packs and take the help of a card dealer. You might be able to locate the missing card from either of these sources.
