Keep Our City Firing On Just about all Cylinders - Hamilton Landlords Say No to Licensing

Hamilton real estate is actually on a roll these days.

Prices are healthy on and on up and we are becoming an increasingly attractive place for people around the province, the country, and the globe to invest.

Hamilton ranked because Canada’s top investment areas for the second straight year by Website Selection Magazine. The content was even called ”Hamilton is actually Firing on Just about all Cylinders”

Let’s Keep Our Economy Firing on Just about all Cylinders

Hamilton Landlords tend to be calling for our federal government to create policies which help our city grow and succeed, not hurt our town.

The City of Hamilton promises the next to citizens

Our Vision

To be the best place in Canada to boost a child, promote development, engage citizens and provide diverse economic opportunities.

Our Mission

We offer quality public support that contribute to a proper, safe and prosperous community, in a sustainable manner.

Our Values

Accountability, Cost Consciousness, Equity, Excellence, Integrity, Innovation, Leadership, Respect and Teamwork

Other than Hamilton Staff Want to Fill Their Coffers and Wreck Our Rental Field

On June 26, 2013 City Local authority or council directed city employees to “…report back to the look Committee with options and alternatives associated with the licensing associated with rental housing absolutely no later than September The year 2013.”

And now we know the suggestion that will be presented to the Planning Committee today.

Parking and By-law Services Division

TO: Chair as well as Members, Planning Committee

WARD(S) Impacted: CITY WIDE

SUBJECT/REPORT Absolutely no: Rental Housing Licensing By-law PED10049(m) (City Broad)

RECOMMENDATION:

That the Leasing Housing Licensing By-law attached as Appendix “A” to ReportPED10049(michael), which is in a form satisfactory to the City Solicitor, and which would become Schedule (30) Rental Dwelling Units of the Licensing By-law No. 07-170 and come into force on April Ten, 2017, be approved.

Good Property owners and Tenants Say No To Landlord Licensing

There’s a great message to the Hamilton Preparing Committee from the Ontario Landlords Association titled: “Licensing Landlords Is Not the Solution For Hamilton”

The OLA says:

The City needs to perform a better job of dealing with unprofessional landlords and poorly maintained properties while at the same period supporting and encouraging people who invest and create high quality rental space.

We agree. Let’s keep Hamilton continuing to move forward and that means saying NO to landlord licensing.
