Social work is something which brings many people inner satisfaction. Social work degrees online offer an opportunity to learners to acquire skills needed to help improve the quality of life for individuals or communities.

Career Opportunities

With a degree in social work you can work in public service settings like hospitals, schools, nursing homes, private practices, government agencies or substance abuse clinics. You can either work as a direct contact social worker who helps clients assess their current situation and guides them to seek the right help or make the right choices or you can work as a clinical social worker whose work is more like that of a counselor or therapist.

Coursework

An associate or bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW), will prepare you for entry-level jobs. During the course you will learn about multicultural issues, abnormal psychology, principles of sociology, social welfare policy and services and research methods. The last year of some programs requires field-work. A master’s degree in social work (MSW) will prepare you to become a licensed clinical social worker. ...
... It is usually research based. The field-work is more intensive and teaches you how to carry out clinical assessments. A PhD requires that you carry out an in-depth study of issues and devise new policies, analyze data and use it to bring about positive changes. At the end, you must submit a thesis on a particular area.
