What Causes Cellulite?

By Expert Author: Harry Kett

Cellulite is a condition which affects the buttocks and thighs. This is accumulation of body fats on these body parts which makes the skin look bumpy thus distorting its appearance. This condition is more prevalent in post adolescence women where it is perceived to be a result of hormonal changes. The condition is known to affect ladies irrespective of their age and body size hence itís not only prone to those who are fat but to slim ones too. There are various models which are used when considering how to eliminate cellulite. These include medicinal applications as well as natural methods which can be carried out by the individual from their own homes.

Certain lifestyles can also lead to development of cellulite. Those living in over stressing conditions increase their levels of catecholamines which is known to development of cellulite. Diet is a factor in gaining and maintaining healthy body. Dieting practices which increase formation of body fat is also known to be a great cause of creating fat deposits in the areas surrounding the buttocks and thighs which is also a cause for the condition.

According to various researches, it has been found out that 95% of women have a certain type of cellulite within their body compared to men who stand at 10%. The condition is known to affect people irrespective of their body sizes thus making it possible for both skinny and fat people to develop the condition. Accumulation of fats within the body is known to result from eating junk foods. Foods which also contain high contents of cholesterol lead to unnecessary fat accumulation within the body. This fat settles in the areas around the buttocks and thigh leading to development of the disease.

Exercises and physical activity increases the flow of blood to various body parts. Where these are not available the blood flow reduces significantly. This condition is prevalent among people who sit in the office for long and do not take regular exercises. This will result in the excess fat deposits in the areas where the flow of blood is limited resulting to cellulite. Where this is the case, undertaking a regular exercising program maybe an ideal remedy for the disease. The lower parts of the womenís body normally experiences low blood flow providing limited amount of oxygen which is required to burn out the body fats.

Cellulite cells are also known to be passed on from one generation to the other. This means therefore that if the condition is prevalent among one family member, there are high chances the there will be others who stand to develop the condition. This is attributed to collagen fibers in women which run up and down the womanís lower body like a picket fence. This is unlike the menís collagen which has a chain link fence distribution structure.
