Most everyone loves the smell of a fresh Christmas tree. Somehow the smell of pine or spruce evokes thoughts of a happy Christmastime with family and friends. Even so, every year many people put up artificial trees because they think they’re easier to deal with. That may be true, but there’s nothing like a real Christmas tree. There are some florists and nursery stores in Boulder, CO for example who sell fresh Christmas trees. They can advise on how to get the most from an investment in a fresh Christmas tree. Whether one lives in Colorado or elsewhere, the holiday season can be more fun with a real Christmas tree.

Some people will argue that buying an artificial tree is more cost-effective; it’s one expenditure versus paying for a real tree every year. As with anything else, what one pays depends on one’s point of view. Ease of use and affordability can be a good reason to buy an artificial tree. Decorating one’s home with real greenery at Christmas timecan actually be done rather inexpensively. For example a person could visit a local florist or nursery and purchase wreaths, mistletoe and other fresh ...
... decorations. These can get one started decorating and make the home look festive.Wreaths also make great gifts and florists can arrange for delivery of these items to family and friends.

Choosing a fresh tree can be a bit trickier, but some time spent in the selection process will pay off with a beautiful focal point for holiday celebrations. When many people think of a fresh tree they think of a group of trees that someone is selling in a parking lot, or that a hardware store might have stacked outside their doors. A florist or nursery store often can get much higher quality Christmas trees than some of these other sources. Paying a few dollars more for a quality tree can help ensure that it keeps its needles longer and retains its supple-looking appearance throughout the holidays.

Once one selects a fresh tree there’s the matter of the tree stand. A good stand will have multiple points that hold the tree within the stand. Sometimes to keep the tree steady it’s necessary to place an eye (from hook and eye hardware) into doorway or wall woodwork and run a wire from the middle of the trunk of the tree through that hardware. This is an easy task and the small piece of hardware can be left in place for next year’s tree.

Decorating a real tree is a lot of fun, and people can use some of the old decorating methods that look especially well on a fresh tree, such as strings of cranberries and popcorn. While many people like lights on their trees, a simple way to avoid fire hazards is to place small lights in other areas of the home like around doorways or staircase railings. There are tutorials on YouTube and other sites that discuss Christmas tree lighting. Watching a few of these videos can teach one how to hang lights on their fresh tree.

Ideally it’d be great if an artificial tree existed that could accurately replicate the beauty of a real Christmas tree. While many of today’s artificial trees are very beautiful, a real tree does more than look well. It smells terrific and has a texture and variability to its branches and needles that is inspiring. Christmas is a fun time to spend with friends and family. Part of the family tradition can be the selection of a real tree. Memories will be made doing this as some years the tree selected may be short or tall, narrow or wide; fresh trees offer many intriguing irregularities versus artificial trees. It’s those variations that people treasure as part of their holiday remembrances.
