It is an obstacle that I face even today, and have also battled throughout the years. When it comes to succeeding now, and in the future, most people that start a business are not properly prepared to do so. Your success will only begin to appear once you have these qualities, a mindset or set of habitx designed to help you succeed. So as you progress, then you'll either realize your limitations and do something to change them, or you won't. Acquiring these habits, and developing them every day, is something you can do.
Just about the biggest online businesses are the ones that are focused more on their customers than their competitors are. The name of that business is Amazon, which you probably already guessed. It's called a customer-centric philosophy, putting the customer at the center of the company. Just about everything else gets better when you take good care of your customers.
Lots of different factors are important here, the most important is that you understand your customers as well as what they need. Build the mechanism for dialogue between you and them--accept their feedback and actually listen to the things they tell you. Then, obviously, you'll need to do the things that you know to be possible and that make the most sense.
If you find yourself unable to solve a specific problem in your business, approach it in a new way. Reducing the way that you think of things to just a few particular solutions is normal. Any one person is just a single perspective, and you know there's more than one. This is when you need to employ your earned leverage by talking others into helping you brainstorm your business. It does not help you in any way to allow your ego to keep you from doing this. Call a meeting of your best minds, tell them the problem, and then ask them to just say anything that comes to mind. A lot of times a good solution will be right in front of you.

The normal course of action for most businesses, including corporations, is to ignore everything until it's a problem. Think about computers or the equipment that you use every day as an example of what we are talking about. Through regular servicing, many of problems that are typically experienced will simply not manifest. Most companies will consider this a discretionary expense, and therefore will not do it regularly. That's fine until something critical goes down and production stops. If you can keep your equipment running smoothly, then you won't have unexpected problems that could cause your small business to suffer.
It is absolutely imperative that every business owner develop business success habits which can be learned through courses and books. The most challenging aspect of developing successful business habits is simply taking action everyday. Learning how to do this is not easy. This is the truth! Habits like this are hard to maintain. It really just depends on you, and how you process and execute this information. Doing a little bit each day, and improving upon what you did before, is really the key to making this work. Don't try to think about how much time you are spending doing this or how long it will take to accomplish. It's all about being consistent, and not being hard on yourself. Just do your best and you will succeed.
