Find ways to stand or sit differently and change your position so you aren't in one position for long periods.

Back pain is only made worse when you get stressed and tense about it. Try to relax as much as possible. If you become too tense, you could experience a muscle spasm. Rest, and place a heat pad on your back to sooth the pain.

If you are experiencing painful back spasms, you should attempt to relax them. Lying down and applying heat to the muscles is the fastest way to ease your pain. Drinking plenty of water and limiting how much sodium you consume will also help the pain dissipate. You want to prevent dehydration, which can bring on even worse muscle spasms.

If the pain in your back is unbearable, you need to consult with your doctor so he can diagnose what is going on. Your doctor might want to run some tests (including blood tests) and check out your medical history to look at any other factors that might be causing this pain.

Do not take back pains lightly. By not managing your back pain, you run the risk of severe damage that can affect your whole life. Taking proper precautions to avoid a back injury in the first place is preferable to trying to treat one after it occurs. If it happens to you, you must know what to do about it.
