DiSC is a personality assessment method that is widely used today. Founded on William Marston’s DISC theory of personality, this assessment is based on four personality traits that are then used to create DiSC profiles.

DiSC stands for the four personality traits that are tested in these tests. These are D for Dominance or Drive, I for Inducement or Influence, S for Submission or Steadiness and C for Compliance, Conscientiousness or Caution.

Employers using DiSC management tools, such as DiSC Work of Leaders have reported positive outcomes from DiSC training and DiSC certification. DiSC training includes data on how to read the scores of DiSC tests.

People who have a high D score are usually very active, and deal well with challenges and problems. Those who score low on D are usually the kind who like to research well before tackling a problem or making a decision. Adjectives used to describe high D people include forceful, demanding, strong willed, egocentric, determined, driving, aggressive, ambitious and pioneering. Low D’s are usually described as low key, conservative, calculating, cooperative, ...
... cautious, undemanding, agreeable, mild, peaceful and modest.

People who score high for the I factor are emotional and adept at convincing others through their speech. They can be described as magnetic, convincing, enthusiastic, political, warm, persuasive, trusting, demonstrative and optimistic. Those who score low on this factor are less emotional and swayed only by facts and data. They are factual, reflective, skeptical, calculating, suspicious, logical, critical and pessimistic.

Those who score well for S usually prefer routine and a steady pace, and do not welcome change. They are relaxed, calm, possessive, patient, deliberate, predictable, consistent, stable and unemotional. Those who score low for this factor are more welcoming to variety and change. They are demonstrative, restless, eager, impulsive and impatient.

People who do well for the C factor are rule abiding people. They are fond of doing work well the first time around. They are described as cautious, careful, neat, exacting, diplomatic, systematic, tactful and accurate. Those who are low on the C factor like their independence show a tendency to break rules. They are stubborn, self-willed, unsystematic, opinionated, not concerned with details and arbitrary.

These DiSC profiles are very useful when one uses a Disc Workplace questionnaire as it can be used to identify various personality types in the work environment. As the popularity of DiSC tests has increased, so have the DiSC sales.

Everything DiSC provides such as the comprehensive set of tests, can be purchased using epic credits. Learn more about it right here.
