Media Entertainment House In Kolkata Has A Massive Turnover

The concluding decades of the twentieth century witnessed revolutionary developments in the mass media, telecommunications and information technologies. The old mass media techniques were stand-alone isolated technologies; radio, TV, cinema, the press and book publishing were looked upon and used as distinct and discrete technologies. It is only in the recent times that cinema has been looked upon as a serious art form worthy of studying at the university level. While accepting a Honorary Doctorate from the Jadavpur University in 1980, Satyajit Ray made a strong plea for including the teaching of cinema as a part of educational curriculum. With this recommendation, a number of private colleges and film institutes were set up in different cities of India to provide a complete knowledge of movies which included film direction, script writing, acting, cinematography, editing and graphic designing. Most of these schools provide a diploma in film production.
The popular attitude to cinema as a means of mass entertainment has its origin in the type of films made up to the fifties in India. In fact, Satyajit Ray told the Working Group that ‘the works of the early film makers suffered from a low level of conception as right from the beginning cinema in India was aimed at the lowest common denominator and become primarily concerned with providing entertainment.’ He further added that even the well known writers became involved with cinema which deliberately changed the quality of their writing.’ But Ray was very particular about how he wanted a specific scene to be enacted. The Media entertainment house in Kolkata is trying to incorporate newer concepts while producing any program which aims to entertain the audience. The cinema is the art of today, just as drama was in the earlier ages. It is, as Pudovkin, the Russian theorist of film wrote in 1933; ‘a synthesis of each and every element – the oral, the visual and the philosophical; it is the opportunity to translate the world in its lines and shadows into a new art form that has succeeded and will supersede all the older arts, for it is the supreme medium in which one can express today and tomorrow.
Men acquire a particular quality by constantly acting in a particular way. This statement was uttered by the great Greek philosopher and literary critic Aristotle. But if you are really serious about acting you would have to work on your body, your voice as well as your expressions. The best way is practice in front of the mirror assuming it as a camera. This would certainly help in reducing the nervousness if you are facing the camera for the first time. Rehearse your dialogues very well with full expressions. An actor has to give many takes before the final scene is Okayed by the director. Remember, a fine actor is one who does not take many retakes for every scene. The acting school in Kolkata has some very experienced faculty members most of whom are renowned film stars from the Tollywood Industry. You need to give intense performance whenever the opportunity knocks at the door.
