Why You Should Change Your Fridges Filter Often

Typical filters in refrigerators utilize granular activated carbon (or simply GAC) that act as a magnet for microscopic particles, substances and chemicals that can make your water smell and taste bad. Of course, that’s assuming that the refrigerator has met the certification standards in your respective area.
Can’t address all the mess
A typical water filter in Melbourne does not have the capability to clean all the chemicals
That latches on to the liquid. In some cases these contaminants can threaten your health and safety. The process usually involves passing the water through these filters but because the procedure takes very little time, your refrigerator’s water system could not possibly clean all particles. That state becomes very attractive for bacteria and pests which will eventually end up in your water.
Black water
In extreme situations, if you don’t replace your fridges filter, bits and pieces of the brittle material will break away and end up into your water. That day will come when you find some black residues ...
... in your drinking glass or your drinking water that once was very clean now becomes cloudy.
How to clean your filters
Take away your filter box and pat it over the trash to take away all the residues. Use a mild household cleaner then soak the filter with it. A better choice would be to purchase cleaners specifically for the purpose which you can find from manufacturers of water filter in Melbourne or maybe your local hardware. Soak the filter for at least 15 minutes.
After soaking, rinse the fridges filter well until there’s no more smell or bubbles. Don’t use pressurised water since this could harm the material. Air dry the filter, preferably under the sun, then put back the filter in your refrigerator. How often should you clean your filter? There are no hard rules. The best way is to check it every now and then and clean as you can.
Where are the filters located?
There are two types of fridges filter: the twist-on which is typically placed at the front of the refrigerator at the bottom grille. Or it can also be found at the back and insider of the fridge. Another type is the push-in filter. This is usually placed inside the refrigerator in the drawers or the top part near the back of the refrigerator.
Opening the twist-on Fridges Filter is very easy. Just turn on the knob counter-clockwise and pull the filter from the casing. The knob can still be use to lock into the position your new filter. The push-in refrigerator works exactly as it sounds. You push the button which will unlock the filter to make it easier to pull out. Take the cap off and replace the filter with a new one. Push it back into position and that’s it.
