Glass standoffs are metal fasteners used for placing display units on walls or on the floor. The fasteners play a crucial role in the functionality of a display. They keep the unit fixed to the surface it is set on and also they keep it at a safe distance from the surface. Or in other words, the fasteners prevent the unit from coming into contact with the surface.

Keeping a unit at a distance from a surface has many advantages. First, it provides space for wiring the unit or attaching it with outdoor marketing equipment. Present day displays are used for showing marketing commercials. They have electrical wires and computer chips that play a commercial again and again. They are called moving displays. What makes these displays move? It is the picture that moves on a display. Viewers can see the display and not the wires of the system that moves the commercials.

It is mandatory to keep a computerized display unit at a distance from the surface because it can damage the unit if it is fixed or attached to a surface. Here fasteners play a crucial role in making a display functional. They make a bridge between a surface and a display. The ladder rests on the fasteners which rest on the surface. In this way, the fasteners take the responsibility of preventing the display from coming into contact with the surface.

Glass standoffs used in outdoor areas are made from stainless steel and fasteners used in indoors are made from aluminum and other metals. Steel has an advantage. It can withstand dust and moisture without showing any sign of exhaustion for years. Also, it is more reliable than aluminum. On the other hand aluminum gives an affordable alternative to steel in the indoor areas.

Glass standoffs come in different sizes and shapes like round, hex and square. They come in male-female forms for easy application and firm fastening. The female part is fixed to the surface while the male part is used to fix the assembly or the unit to the female part.

Glass standoffs do more work than just fastening a unit on a surface. They improve the look of the unit. From the outer side, you will see only what looks to be a decorative metal shining bright and catching everyone’s eye but it is actually a fastener that holds the unit in place. It is difficult to move a unit from its place, if it is fixed with fasteners.
