Of course, the LOTR series has its critics, but the fantastical world it manages to create is absolutely brilliant. Even critics would agree when it is said that it is one of the books that is important in this world.

Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale

This is a novel that showcases a dystopian society. It’s fantastic and terrible. It is also scary. Overall, it is a book that is very widely read and even a movie has been created from its adaptation. This book is however more speculative fiction than fantasy fiction, but the very fact that it has won several fantastic fiction awards in its time makes it an important member of this list.These are only three books.
