Bridge Café
Where: 279 Walter Street New York, NY 10038
Call: 212-227-3344
This is the oldest entry on the list, and the building is as important as the food that is served here. Only 2 buildings remain from New York’s British Colonial period, and this is 1 of them. The Restaurant first opened in 1794 and, in between serving up food and drinks, served as a brothel for a time. Today, however, you’ll have to settle for delicious soft crab and other menu offerings.

Peter Luger

Call: 718-387-7400
In a city filled with amazing steak Restaurants, Peter Luger has somehow managed to maintain its spot as Zagat’s #1 steak Restaurant for 26 years. When you visit this Restaurant in New York, which opened in 1887, order some of the delicious vegetable options, such as creamed spinach, to go along with your unforgettable steak.

Katz’s Deli
Where: 205 Houston Street New York, NY 10002

Katz’s Deli became quite famous after being prominently featured in the 1989 film When Harry Met Sally, but it had been serving up its delicious dried meats and other favorites since 1888. Every Jewish deli favorite you could want is found here, and the piled high sandwiches are enough to share.

McSorley’s Old Ale House
Where: 15 East 7th Street New York, NY 10003

This NYC Restaurant opened in 1854, but women weren’t allowed until 1970. Today both men and women can enjoy the beer - which always comes in pairs – while noshing on the food and gazing at the impressive memorabilia collection including an original wanted poster for the killer of Abraham Lincoln.
