Highly processed foods should be avoided as they contain trans fat. Foods that are high in trans fats have been linked to heart disease and should only be consumed in moderation. Trans fats hit your body with a two-fisted attack: first, they raise your bad cholesterol (LDL) levels, and then they lower your good cholesterol (HDL) levels.

Canned salmon is a good choice for a tasty and nutritious meal. You can get a lot of minerals and vitamins out of canned salmon, but not carbs or fat. Vary your diet as much as possible to enjoy what you eat on a daily basis.

Eating balanced meals are important to ensure you are receiving the proper nutrition. Humans require many key nutrients if they are to function efficiently, including minerals, vitamins, essential acids, and fats. Though these essential nutrients can be found in over-the-counter supplements, the body is able to synthesize these nutrients from food better than it can from the supplement.
