With the explosion of internet connected phones, tablets and laptops, people are spending more and more of their day on the Web. With all of this internet activity, the popularity of information on the internet will continue to skyrocket. Submitting articles to online article directories is one of the most popular free ways to get traffic to your blog or offer page. With all of the changes from Google, this truly "white hat" method to get exposure and traffic, without any worries of being slapped or delisted. Why don't we look over 3 of the common mistakes to avoid before you publish your article to a directory.
Mistake 1. Writing An Article Simply To Promote Your Product.
Remember why you surf the web, to find information that helps you make a decision. There's a reason the internet is known as the "Information Superhighway". People are searching on the web to be informed, your goal should be to offer them awesome content. Clicking on an article link and just seeing a simple sales pitch, or a simple list of features will turn off most searchers and cause them to hit the back button.
One hint, write about benefits and not just the features. When people read your article does it just list the features from the products sales page? Benefits and real information is what most people are searching for. This could then give you another awesome benefit that I will share with you below.
Mistake 2. Writing Just For Backlinks
If you write a blah article that is skimpy on content, no publisher is going to want to share it with their audience. This should be your main goal whenever you write an article, for it to be published by others. This type of viral marketing can mean instead of 10-20 visits to your site from the article, it could give you an explosion of interest and hundreds of visits instead.
Also, generic writing may also cause your article to be rejected by the directory you are submitting to. Read over your article, is it one you would want to share with your list? Spending a little more time with your article can potentially pay off when other publishers see the quality and decide to share it on their site or blog. This could bring in a tsunami of traffic, just from spending a little more time writing interesting content for your reader.
Mistake 3. Keyword Stuffing
The days of fooling Google by stuffing your article with keywords is long gone. And who wants to read an article that artificially repeats the same word every sentence or two? I don't.
Mention your keyword in your title, and just a one or two times is sufficient. The key here isn't to rank the article, its to write something that others would want to share with their readers. Getting published by others is an effective method of getting the traffic you're looking for.
Start out with a plan today to see that your article publishing serves it's purpose to inform the reader. Show them something they didn't know, an angle or side in the article that no one else has used. Content is king, the web surfer today is looking for content that informs them. When you avoid these 3 mistakes before you publish your article, you will find your publishing producing not just better content, but providing dividends that extend to a larger following and more traffic.
