The CPP exam also known as the Certified Protection Professional exam is one that you must study for. In order to even be considered to take the test, you need to have at the minimum a bachelor’s degree. You can also have a degree that is higher from an institution that is accredited. In addition to the degree and education, you must also have at least a minimum of three years in the position of being in charge of security. If you do not have the degree that is required you must have no less than nine years of experience in the security field.
The exam itself will consist of 200 questions which are multiple choice on eight different topics and will cover your knowledge, skills and the tasks of each. These are legal matters, crisis management, information security, legal matters, security principles, personnel security, physical security and business practices. Each section is covered in depth and should be treated as an individual exam for the CPP.
For each topic that you are going to cover, you are going to find that there are sub-topics for each one. There are several parts to each section of the CPP exam and they will challenge you. It is important to be sure that you are up to date on the current exam procedures so that you know what you have to study for.
Of course, once you pass the CPP exam and become certified, you will need to keep your certification current. This means that you will need to become re-certified by a certain date before your current one expires. Although you are already current on the procedures and processes that are used, you still may want to study and brush up before you take the test so you are prepared the best way possible.
There are many courses online that you can take in order to get prepared for the CPP exam and be ready for the test. You want to make sure that the course you are taking is current so you are not studying course procedures that are out of date. If you are not reading the correct information you may find that when you sit down to take the test you are going to fail as the information you have is in the past.
Taking your time and doing your research will help you with the exam. Even though you are already practicing in the CPP field, the exam is going to be tough and will test all of your knowledge. Brushing up and possibly joining a study group can help you to prepare and make sure that you are as ready as you could be for the test. Check online for the dates available for testing and be sure to reserve your space as early as possible so you do not miss the deadline for your certification.
