When the puberty hits the human body these hormones levels fluctuate which for a brief period of time results in a state, where numbers of estrogen hormones are higher then the male hormones in the body. According to a research in adolescent make body the ratio between the male and the female hormones can go up to 4% (male) and 64% (female) but for a particular period of time. Most of the times, it is present in male body for more than two year, is called persistent or enduring pubertal gynecomastia.

It does bring lot of chest pain with it. Depending upon its stage it does end up with minor to serious chest pains. While sleeping or just eating, it can cause uneasiness and tender chest pains. It requires an evaluation with testisterone, estradiol, TSH and hCG. It is possible to reverse the effect if present for less than 12 months in a male body. There are serious cases where it could be a cause of a testicular cancer or a renal damage too.
