More and more people are breaking free of traditional work situations and starting their own businesses. It's exhilarating to finally make your dream business a reality, and you know that if people only knew about your business they would be knocking down your door wanting to buy your products or enlist your services.
The problem is: how do you get the word out about your business when you're starting from scratch?
Nowadays a website is essential--if you have a business, no matter what type it is, you need a website. You may have already figured that out--good for you. One common misconception is that having a website is the end of the line when it comes to marketing.
Many people just set up a website and forget about it, but did you know that you actually need to market your website to make it work for you? The purpose of the website is to draw customers to your business. Customers may find your website because you met them in person and told them your website address, or maybe they found one of your business cards and decided to look you up online. Those two scenarios of uses for your website are real, but ...
... they aren't the most common.
Ideally, your website will be used to draw in customers who have never heard about your business and who don't know you. They are just sitting in their homes in need of the type of services you provide, and so they go to Google and search for the thing they need.
If you have been marketing your website, you can cash in on those people who are doing searches in Google and the other search engines. When they search for things having to do with your niche, ideally the pages of your website will appear high in the rankings. The web pages that are in the top positions in Google's search results are the ones that get the most traffic--people will tend to click on the #1 result the most.
This is one of the big purposes of marketing your business online--it helps you to get "search traffic", which can account for a lot of website visitors. The more website visitors that you have that are interested in your niche, the more possible customers for your business.
So, how do you market your business online? Article submissions are one easy way to draw attention to your website and help influence where the pages of your website sit in Google's rankings. You simply write articles on your general topic, and then submit them to online publishers. Along with each article that you submit you'll also include a resource box that includes information about you, your business or products, a reason to visit your website, and a link to your website.
When people read your article and find it helpful, they can read the resource box to find out more about you and then click the link that leads to your website. That is one way that you can increase the traffic to your site by doing article submissions.
More significantly though, article submissions can help your web pages get ranked higher in Google and the other search engines. They do this by helping the search engine to associate your website with certain phrases that people do searches for. By doing research on the types of phrases that your potential customers are doing searches for, you can create articles that are suited to satisfy the specific needs of your target market.
One aspect that is crucial to the success of doing free reprint article submissions is consistency--you need to submit articles on a consistent basis each month. By writing on your topic on a steady basis, you not only build momentum for your website in search engines, but you also start to establish yourself as an expert in your field online, which builds customer confidence in you and your business.
Marketing a business online isn't rocket science--one of the most user friendly marketing tools is article marketing (submitting free reprint articles). By embarking on an article marketing campaign, you can draw readers to your website through the link in the resource box of each article, through search engines like Google, and also by building a reputation for yourself through the knowledge that you convey in your writing.
