Article marketing is like anything else - practice makes perfect. Knowing what to do, how to do it and what to address can impact your performance drastically. Knowing the answers to these questions can put you in the "untouchable" realm. Meaning you could become the "go-to-guy" in the niche.
Lets take a look at what makes an elite article marketer?
Target Audience
A great article marketer knows their audience. Instead of having a target audience that is made up of "everyone," they focus on a segment of the population. For example, if you own a baby products store, you would likely focus your articles and marketing efforts towards women who are pregnant or those trying to get pregnant. The marketer would find the most populous area on the web where these individuals hang out and focus their article submissions here. This way the articles get into the right hands. The more information you can pass to these individuals that contain your name and branding, the more traffic you could drive to your website.
If you submit your articles to general article directories you need to focus on the correct categories and use specific keywords that would attract the market through search.
Multi-task
Great article marketers are able to do multiple things at once such as write quality articles, drive traffic to their website and/or generate income from their articles. The elite article marketers are able to successfully do all three of these without issue. It doesn't come without practice, planning and adjusting based on performance. In time, the article campaigns executed will offer great information, generate large amounts of traffic and earn a large sum of income.
Linking
When writing articles, you often link back to other resources on the web. It might be examples you've given, products you're introducing or services you offer. Not all directories will allow you to post promotional links however many will. Elite article marketers are able to strategically place these links within their articles to generate substantial clicks. Typically, you'll find a CTA (call-to-action) type statement toward the end of an article. If correctly written, you will find that traffic to your end location will increase. With just a little bit of practice and fine-tuning, you too can become an elite article marketer. Like everything, it will take time and some practice.
