Music Competition - For many students, a Music Competition is a regular part of life if they plan to go to music school and seek a career in music. Music Competitions can range from playing an instrument to singing or writing. Any performance whether it be a lesson, for friends and family or a Music Competition, is just a “sneak peak” of their talent and skills. Prepare like it is the last time you will ever perform and do your best. Always be proud what you did no matter the outcome. Remember, the judges of a Music Competition love music. They are evaluating the power of your performance. Never take it personally. Its the performance that is being judged not you.

As a student you can make important connections at a Music Competition that eventually could led to scholarships or participation in other programs. Getting constructive feedback from those people, especially the judges, can help you identify your strengths and other areas that you might need improvement. Again, the feedback is not about you personally, it is solely about your music.
A Music Competition is a opportunity for your “fans” to witness and acknowledge talents and hgard work. Anyone watching your performance can provide important feedback. This is anyone from family and friends to total strangers. You want a wide variety of people seeing your work.
A chance to observe your peers or better yet the competition. Competing in a Music Competition give you the chance to gauge your own strengths and weaknesses against others in the competition. That exposure can be very inspiring and can help you with your future performances.
If you happen to place or even win a Music Competition it gives you one more accomplishment to add to your resume. They all add up quickly. When you start out looking for a Music Competition to compete in look for an appropriate level for your development. This will ensure that you are more likely to have a positive experience.
