Ask about the quality of the work, whether the ghostwriter met deadlines and what the ghost was like to work with. Also, don't just communicate by e-mail with the ghostwriters. Make an appointment to interview each of them. If they are nearby, be sure to meet them in person. You'll want to hire a ghostwriter you can get along with, who's personable and whom you can communicate with easily. This is especially true if the ghostwriter will be writing a longer project, such as a book,
Before hiring the ghostwriter, be sure to discuss fees. Once that's done and an agreement is reached, be sure to put it in writing. You'll want an agreement that spells out a fee schedule and the number of revisions allowed. You'll also want to include a confidentiality clause, especially if the project is a book or ebook that you will publish. The confidentiality clause will spell out that the ghostwriter will not reveal that he wrote any of the material at any time.
