Everything should be about your identity, if not as a person then as a family unit. If you are single, then putting your identity to everything you own will be much simpler. However, since you are part of an intimate group now, you have to take into consideration not only your personal qualities but that of your other family members as well. This kind of decision-making is usually encountered when planning a new home or a new home improvement plan or maybe a new hobby. But since our focus is on bathroom remodeling, we will try to look into different family identities as portrayed by their respective bathrooms. However since we can only identify so much, I will only mention what I believe are the most common family types around.

The posh

Posh families like it clean and white. I am not saying that I am an expert. I just observed that pop culture often portrays elite families that way. just look at society magazines. Observe their general style and feel and you will visualize a design for this family type’s bathroom. This is usually further achieved by adding bright lights and a lot of metals and glass.

The ...
... sporty

We are all familiar with this type of family. There is no member of the family who does not focus on a particular sport. It does not really matter if it’s basketball, football, soccer, hockey, volleyball, or what other ball or no ball there is—as long as it’s a sport. This type of family’s idea of family bonding is watching basketball on weeknights and going to the Super Bowl. If your family is like this, a good remodeling design is also sports inspired. It is better if the whole family agrees on a particular sport—say basketball—and just decorate their bathroom with basketball inspired designs.

The artistic

Well, the term artistic is actually a very general term. An artist can be a painter, a poet, a novelist, a graphic designer, an interior designer, an apparent designer, a singer, a songwriter—the list goes on. So obviously, you will have to base your bathroom’s design to your family’s art or craft. However, you can also choose a different field of art as the inspiration for your remodeling. If, for example, you are a singer but are a great painting enthusiast, then by all means, decorate your bathroom with shades of Van Gogh and Monet.

The nerd

Like the artistic family type, the nerd typecasting is also very general. I can only guess a few, but I will try my best. There is the book nerd, the computer nerd, the Internet nerd, the techie nerd, the general information nerd, and so on. Forgive me if I missed other types (an I am sure I did). Anyway, the same idea applies as with the artistic family type. You do not necessarily have to stick with your type of nerdiness. You can design your bathroom differently from your routines. Just make sure that your bathroom design still carries your identity, personality, and lifestyle as a family.
