What are best supplement for joints? Scientific study and research for joint care supplements has not fully exhausted their avenues of research. In fact, long-term studies on the most popular supplements have yet to make any conclusions. However, glucosamine sulphate has been the most studied supplement and has produced the most positive results. It is considered the safest and most reliable major component of supplements available today.

What is Glucosamine?
Glucosamine sulphate is actually found naturally in the body, usually in connective tissues such as those covering the bones in joints. Glucosamine sulphate is also found in the shells of various shellfish including crab, lobster, and shrimp. Generally, it is procured from the chitin of these sea creatures. ...
... Do not confuse glucosamine sulphate with glucosamine hydrochloride or N-acetyl glucosamine, as these are different chemical compounds and may have varying effects.

In fact, only glucosamine sulphate has been given a “likely effective” status by the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database. This ranking database takes into effect all studies and gives a verdict on the effectiveness of the medicine, either natural or pharmaceutical. Not all commercially available supplements have natural ingredients, as glucosamine sulphate can be created in a laboratory, so make sure to check your ingredients and the manufacturer.

How Does It Work?
Generally, glucosamine sulphate combats the degeneration of joints. Osteoarthritis affects joints by breaking down cartilage that keeps the bones from rubbing on each other and by decreasing the fluid around the joint. When the joint decreases and the cartilage thins, the connective tissue no longer separates the bones and they start to rub together, which creates inflammation, swelling, and pain. Researchers believe that glucosamine helps in cartilage reconstruction by providing the basic building blocks that your body uses to create and maintain cartilage as well as the thick fluid surrounding the joint. Researchers also argue that glucosamine sulphate may actually halt the degeneration process. They also believe that sulphate may be a key ingredient as it is needed in the production of cartilage and may be why the other forms of glucosamine are not as effective. This is why it is considered the best supplement for joints by many experts in the field.

Pain Reliever
Current studies also show that glucosamine sulphate generally relieves pain stemming from joint degeneration. These studies, however, show that glucosamine sulphate can take up to eight weeks to take effect, whereas acetaminophen or NSAIDs are generally effective within two weeks. If you have joint pain, it may be wise to start taking both at the same time and gradually wean yourself off the over-the-counter pain relievers. In certain studies, glucosamine sulphate showed no effect on people with long-term osteoarthritis and those that were heavier in weight.

Glucosamine sulphate is generally been scientifically proven as a supplement that can reduce and eliminate pain associated with joint degeneration, can halt joint degeneration, and even start to increase cartilage thickness. However, while it may not be perfect for everyone, and you should consult your doctor about taking it with your current medications, it is still considered the best supplement for joints.
