Death by chocolate is a common name for many chocolate preparations. Also, if you imagine it, you might say thats a good way to die. However, this actually occured on one occasion in Mexico in the 17th century. It was not the chocloate itself, but rather the poison injected into the chocolate, which killed a Spanish Bishop who decided to ban the consumption of chocolate during church services.

2. Chocolate is the inspiration behind the Microwave invention
Percy Spence, a scientist working on WWII radar and weapons projects, was a big fan of chocolate. He noticed that the chocolate bar melted in his pocket after spending some time near a formidable device called a magnetron. He quickly put two and two together and realized magnetrons could heat up food at incredibly fast rates and microwave oven came into existence.

3. Dark Chocolate makes you fall in love
Dark chocolate pumps blood flow to the brain and your heart, which means heightened cognitive abilities and reduces your risk to stroke. Chocolate contains phenylethylamine (PEA), it is the same chemical that your brain creates when you feel like you are faling in love. It encourages your brain to release endorphins that will make you happy.

4. Dark chocolate can be a substite for Coffee
Dark chocolate also comprises caffeine, however it is much lesser caffeine as compared to coffee. A 1.5 ounce bar of dark chocolate contains 27 mg of caffeine, compared to the 200 mg found in an eight ounce cup of coffee.

5. Dark Chocolate can slow ageing
Dark chocolate is filled with antioxidants. Antioxidants help free your body of free radicals, which cause oxidative damage to cells. Eating antioxidant rich foods like dark chocolate can protect you from many types of cancer and slow the signs of aging.

6. Dark chocolate is your new skin tonic?
German researchers found that the flavonoids in dark chocolate absorb UV light, help protect and increase blood flow to the skin, and improve skin’s hydration and complexion.

The biggest candy bar of chocolate ever made was created in 2000 and weighed 5,000 pounds. Turin is the city in Italy that can be proud of this accomplishment.

Americans Consume Almost Half the World’s Chocolate. It is rightly the nation of bulk candy consumption. While the US produces the most chocolate and consume the most pounds every year, the Swiss consume the most per capita, followed closely by the English.
