A qr code is a two dimensional bar code readable by smart phones. The basic concept behind this code is that, the encrypted data will be decoded at a very high speed. This black and white wavy motif contains encrypted data, website’s URL link, videos, images etc. Although a code can hold thousand of alphanumeric characters of information, the actual amount of data it can store depends on the character set, version and error correction level.

The code was originally invented by a subsidiary of Toyota – Denso Wave. Although Denso Wave owns the patent rights, they have decided not to make a claim on it. As a result of this the code is free of any license and anybody can adopt it. And this is the main reason behind this huge popularity of it. The code was actually came in to existence to track vehicle parts in automobile industry, and used in Japan and South Korea massively. However, now days almost all other industry use this code for business purpose. All you need is a smart phone with supported code reader application – an iPhone, Android, or any camera enabled smart phones. No external scanner is required. You can use the camera of your smart phone to scan the code image and can read the text and contact information, open a webpage in your cell phone’s browser, or can connect to a wireless network. Since you are connecting to the web world using a physical world device, this connection has been termed as hard linking or object hyperlink.

You can use QR codes in many creative ways. If you are marketing online, then you can use this code in your online marketing campaign. You can give links to your videos, images, blog site, product or service pages in your website, and to your social networking accounts. You can also incorporate the advertisement materials about your new offers, discounts, stock clearing sale etc. To reach your clients with all this information you simply have to encrypt the advertisement pages of your website in the code.

If you own an online shop, then you can link your customers to your online shop using this code. You can use this code along with the traditional methods of advertising. Here you can encode additional information, such as, promos, a special offer, a contest, or content which are not included in your website or not in the homepage.

If you are an author, you can provide a link to your e-book using this code. All you have to do is insert a code containing the e-book link where you are advertising your book, or you can directly insert the code in the hard copy of the book. And your reader can just scan the code image with their smart phones and can read your book.

If you are in to transport business or selling products online, you can put a code on shipped products label. It will link to the setup, handling and installation manuals given in your website.

If you run a business in a traditional way, you can insert a code in your business card and office stationary, like, envelope, writing pads, letter heads etc. It will not only provide your contact information, it will also direct your customers to a Google map for your office location. And you can share all other required business information with your clients.
