While dermal fillers are already achieving a fair amount of popularity among beauty-conscious individuals across the world, it can still be said that not everyone understands what it is and why is it important.

To give you a little overview about it, collagen, fat, hyaluronic acid are some of the substances considered as cosmetic dermal fillers. Some of the popular brands in the market today include ArteFill, Hylaform, Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse, Restylane, and many more.

One of the most common questions among those unfamiliar with it is about its safety. As long as it has been approved by FDA, this is perfectly safe for personal use. Also, this is best used when recommended by a trusted physician. There are, however, associated risks that could take place if it is injected (derma fillers are administered by injection) by someone who is not properly trained for the task. An individual may experience hematoma, skin loss, or even necrosis. Such problems will require immediate medical attention. At times, surgery may even be necessary. The money spent will be wasted and the original goal of having better-looking skin will not be reached.

Most of the time, derma filler is non-allergenic. You have to be warned, however, that those that derived from animal sources can cause allergic reaction to some users. This is exactly the main reason why you will need to undergo consultation with an expert. Sometimes, the attending physician will require a test to determine if you have allergies of any kind. Your derma filler injection will then be scheduled a few weeks after the test.

Now you have to understand that dermal fillers are used for rejuvenating the face. This should never be injected to the hands or any other part of the body. There are rare circumstances, however, when physicians will allow using the fillers for the purpose of treating scars, cellulite dimples and other similar skin problems.

Generally speaking, physicians prohibit the use of dermal fillers for patients below the age of 18. You will notice that the injected area will feel firm during its first week after the treatment. This naturally fades away after a few days so do not be too worried about it. You can go back to your normal activities right away.

Shortly thereafter, you will see the big difference. You will look fresher and younger than before. In case you are not happy with the result, you can feel comforted by the fact that the results of the treatment are not permanent. The effect of hyaluronic fillers will only last for several weeks - not months.

To learn more about dermal fillers, the best thing to do is pay a visit to your local cosmetic clinics. You can ask them any questions regarding details about the procedure as well as the overall price of the treatment. Also, take the time to look around for testimonials shared by previous patients. It would be interesting to find out if most of their past clients are pleased or not with the treatment. This is a good way for you to stay safe and get your money's worth at the same time.
