"The point is, being able to sell with words will bring you much more than money. It will bring you a life-time of interesting work, enjoyable experiences, and unlimited challenges." -- Michael Masterson
The Story Of A Poor Copywriter Who Stole $347,500 Antiques From His Client Legally
The following is a real life experience of a copywriter, Y. W.
=================================================================
When I first heard Michael's word, my ignorance shocked me.
After I realized the dream of 'much more than money', I laughed all my way home with no money but rare antiques.
"Huh?"... I know what you think.
The reality is, there's much more to make than money.
Dear friend, let me explain.
I became a rare antique collector because of my copywriting service. And I did not pay a dime - because I was not rich. Interestingly, I can't even afford to start this expensive hobby now.
If you were like me -- How do you get everything you want even though money can't buy everything?
Easy. I just wrote 2 sales letters.
The first one is for antique business owners ...
... titled "How To Hire A Copywriter To Sell Million Dollar Antiques Without Writing Your Checkbook"
The sales piece was cleverly worded. I guaranteed 10 Million dollar turnover in exchange for $400,000 worth of antiques. I showed the cost advantage of selling antique without using external auction house.
Next I mailed it to a list of 20 top antique dealers. 14 responded and invited me for meeting. Afterthat I picked only one that had the rarest and least antiques to sell. In fact, there was only 16 pieces to sell! Why? Because scarcity is the key to create great demand.
Next I wrote a sales letter for the antique collectors. And I asked the president of an antique collector's club to sign it.
So what's the glicken for the president?
I promised him a $200,000 worth antique.
More than 200 club members turned up on the auction day. And the turnover was about $14 million. That was awesome!
I got a Ching Dynasty jade vase sitting in my living room. That my friend is the glicken!
The moral?
Being a copywriter is not about being paid to write sales letter. There is more you can make.
Want a free car? Write a sales-pulling letter for a car showroom. Funny thing is, sometimes it is much easier to get the car than the money. You've got to do it to find out!
