Small things can make the difference between ad copy that sells and copy that drives prospects away. You'll be amazed what a simple donation can do to boost your credibility.
Here are some proven ways you can improve your ad copy and drive customers to your offer.
Show your visitors that they are dealing with a 'real' person, not just a vague collection of streaming data. One quick way to do this is by handwriting some of the content on your page. Of course, you'll want to be neat to make sure they can read it easily.
It's simple to do. Just write a small note on a sheet of white paper, scan it into your computer, and add the image to your site. If you don't have a scanner, you might be able to photograph it with a digital camera and upload it.
The best approach might be to use it at the start of your presentation as your way of saying, "welcome". Be sure it reflects your personality - of being a friendly online business owner greeting your visitors at the door, smile and a handshake at the ready.
A common practice is to include the names of some people who are well-known across the internet. Best if you can get them to give you a brief testimonial you can use. The view is that if these people trust you and buy from you, then it must be okay for your visitors to do likewise.
Just make sure you have permission to use their names. For one thing, they might not want that exposure. This technique has been used for decades in offline marketing, so don't forget this area of promotion, too.
People like to see what they're buying. If you're offering a service, provide before and after shots if possible. If your product repairs damaged furniture, for instance, show the marred surface as well as how it looks after the product was applied. Nothing speaks louder than pictures.
If someone has written a review of you, your site or your product, get their permission to use that material on your site. Always be sure to include any copyright back to the originating author or publisher.
When people see that others have put value in your business, they will be glad to have that inside knowledge. The more you can educate people about you and your business, the more successful your site will be.
Free bonuses will always boost your product's attractiveness. Even if your product is the best it can be, full of vital little-known information that will skyrocket the buyer's business, bonuses will make it that much more desirable.
If you include the prices of all the items with a final total, they'll see they're getting good value for their money. A word of warning, however. Be sure not to exaggerate the dollar value of these products. Doing so can do the exact opposite of your intended goal. If you show five e-books valued at $1,800 or more, your offer suddenly becomes unbelievable. So keep your figures logical.
Product endorsement is another popular method that's been used for years to promote products. Find someone who is known to your target audience and ask them if they would write a product endorsement for you. Of course, you'll want a valid endorsement.
If your product doesn't meet the buyer's expectations, you could end up without the sale or a refund. Worse, you could be seen as someone people won't buy from again. The risks aren't worth falsifying product claims.
Since you obviously can't stand at the door of your business and greet your visitors, you can do the next best thing and provide your picture on your site. This will help your visitors to relate to you as a person, rather than just a cyberspace disembodied soul.
You might want to add an inspiring quote that reflects your approach to life and/or business.
Donating to charity has been a great tax break for businesses for many years. Of course, there are more benefits. It makes them appear community-minded and willing to share the wealth, rather than feed off the customers. Use this to your advantage.
Offer to donate a percentage of their purchases to a specific charity. Make sure it's one that people will relate to or have some compassion for.
If you're running a dog accessories site, the perfect charity might be the local humane society or animal rescue unit. This will earn you respect in their eyes. The idea of seeing their money going to a worthwhile cause will help spur them to buy from you.
Follow through with this concept by letting your visitors know how much you've donated over a certain period, thanks to their help and support. This will confirm that their money in fact has been donated as you specified.
Such attention to detail will also increase their trust in you. You will be seen as honest and up front, and a person who doesn't just take the money and move on. Letting them know you'll be posting the results over time will encourage them to come back again and again for the latest update.
One final idea that has caught on recently is to invite your prospects to find certain words in your ad copy to receive a free prize. Misspell certain words, spell words backwards, or add nonsense words in your sales page for them to find.
Apart from getting them to read your ad copy, you make your site fun and rewarding for your visitors.
