We all know that festival & holiday season are synonymous with special foods & sweets. With Holi festival & after final exams of students Holiday season is just around the corner & you’ve been in the celebratory and party mode, and you have managed to gain a few kilos! You feel your calorie-counting efforts have been wasted! Do you wonder why you let yourself indulge and bulge?

Check out the tips for dealing with diet disasters that have wreaked havoc on your figure.

It’s Now or Never

Now is the time to undo things! Get started right away. Convincing yourself won’t take long, and with well-intentioned New resolutions in your bag, you can certainly do it.

Forget about what has happened, we bring you the scoop on undoing diet disasters. If you are wondering where to start, read on…

Start at Home

Yes, your home is the best place to start. Switch to fruits at breakfast. This way you get more fiber, feel full and remember you are cutting out oil or fat completely at one meal! Try substituting healthy soups or salad instead of a big meal.

Pop some nuts when ...
... you feel like bingeing. Eating smaller meals more often will work better than eating a fewer number of hearty meals in a day. The results won’t be instant, but you are bound to feel the difference!

Eating Out

Eating out can pose an enormous challenge when you are trying to cope with diet disasters. Restaurant food offers larger portions and often comes loaded with calories. Eating at dinner parties at friend’s homes too can mean eating more than you should.

The secret lies in being selective in what you eat. Grilled food, salads, veggies and smaller portions will definitely help. Learn to say no to calorie-loaded soft drinks and desserts.

Crash Diets

The worst thing you can do to yourself is going on a crash diet! The advice is “don’t!” Denying yourself completely is not going to work and yo-yo diets can cause more harm than good. If comfort foods like chocolates or biscuits are your weakness, treat yourself once in a way, but cut down the quantity of your intake consciously. Moderation is the key word.

Guilt Trips

Most of us go on a guilt trip post-indulgence. You’ve given in to temptation and binged on chocolates, you have over-eaten because the food at the party was too good to resist, or you’ve been coaxed by a friend to have dessert.

Guilt is normal thereafter. Remember, guilt can work backwards, and ruin all that you’ve done so far. Rid yourself of guilt, and think of your indulgence as a one-off thing. Think about the healthy choices you made yesterday and are going to make tomorrow.

Don’t let your holiday & Holi festival overeating and indulgence start you on a downward spiral. The trick to undo diet disasters lies in eating right and packing in some exercise that you enjoy doing. And remember, you are not the only one, it happens to us all.
