4 Vital Things To Consider When Choosing A Driving School/ Instructor
There are so many driving schools and instructors to choose from that you may simply be overwhelmed and confused as to which one to choose. Nonetheless, it is important you choose the right one for yourself. Moreover, many states now require that a drive below the age of 18years complete a driving course before they can hit the road without getting fined. Even if your state doesn’t mandate it, enrolling yourself in a driving school will teach you to drive safely and responsibly. Here are some tips for choosing right driving school/ instructor:
1. Ask what’s the driving test pass rate: Asking a driving instructor about the driving test pass rate of their school is a good way to establish their reputation. But it’s not that straightforward. There are many instructors who will quote a ‘100% pass rate’ as all students pass at one time or another. Would you want such a driving school? The pass rate is not published in the Driving Standards Agency, so there’s no way you can check whether the quoted rate is at all genuine or not.
2. Judge whether he has a professional approach: A well presented driving instructor ...
... with a professional approach and proper vehicle is a significant indication that they are likely to offer good customer service. Recently my teenage boy had undertaken a driving course in Oakville and is now a good driver. If you are looking for good schools offering driving instructions in Oakville, there are many to cater to your needs. Visit www.udsonline.ca for more information.
Consider if the instructors are members of professional organisations like DIA, MSA, the ADI Federation, etc.
Check the vehicles, whether they look clean, well maintained and relatively new.
Also analyse the instructor in the driving seat- is a cigarette sticking out of his mouth, is he busy with his mobile phone, is he making himself a drink or having his lunch in the driver’s seat, id he staring out of the window, or doing anything else that makes you think that he is not giving his full attention to the pupil.
Also check whether the driving school has a website. You can learn about the approach and professionalism of the school and also know about the credentials of your instructor.
3. Consider whether you will be the only learner driver in the car: Many driving instructors teach more than one learner driver at a time. This practise is known as ‘piggybacking’. The learner then takes turn to drive the car. Piggybacking used to be very common few years ago, but now is rarer. Ask the instructor whether he practices it. If you are OK with other learners with you, you may go for it. And if you want the instructor dedicated to you alone, convey the same to the instructor.
4. Consider the cost: The price charged by a driving lesson is an important factor when choosing a driving school. Prices of driving lessons may vary considerably. Choose the school/ instructor that offer service within your budget.
