The commercial success of "The Dirty Picture" gave new life to biopics. Bollywood has now lined up a slew of real people's real stories, though filmmakers admit these are churned out with a dash of entertaining fiction.

Here's what renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has to say about Bollywoood's Biopic trend, "Any biopic cannot be a pure biopic because one tends to add the entertainment quotient to the film to make space for commercial zone. It is easier to say that you are making a biopic than to actually make a biopic. There is a lot of pain that goes into the research of the character and to do justice to the details of a person's journey."

So, check out most awaited Bollywood biopic movies of 2013...

1. Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

It is going to be a treat to watch actor-director-producer Farhan Akhtar, getting into the shoes of India's celebrated athlete Milkha Singh. The dudish actor is putting in enormous amount of efforts to not just look like India's 'Flying Singh' but feel like him too. Right from strenuous physical trailing to meeting the man himself, Farhan is leaving no stone unturned to perfect ...
... his body language and physique required to do the act.

Produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film gets its title from the last words spoken by Milkha Singh's father to him, to save his life during the partition of India. The film stars Sonam Kapoor in the lead role.

2. Rang Rasiya

This is a biopic based on the life and times of 19th century Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma, who painted nude women in those time despite strong opposition. No wonder, the film starring Randeep Hooda, Nandana Sen and Paresh Rawal, ran into Censor trouble because of the frontal nudity scene shot on the lead actress Nandana. While Randeep plays the noted painter, Nandana plays his muse Sugunabai, who posed nude for him.

It is produced and directed by Ketan Mehta, who made biopics like "Sardar" and "Mangal Pandey: The Rising".

3. Shoot Out at Wadala

A sequel to Shoot Out at Lokhandwala, the film will take the audience through the first ever recorded encounter by Mumbai Police, where gangster Manya Surve was shot dead. John Abraham is all set to play the gangster in this Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor's film. The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood.

4. Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2

If you love gangster movies, this one is another treat for you! With Bollywood's khiladi Akshay Kumar reprising the role of gangster Dawood Ibrahim, which was essayed by Emraan Hashmi in the prequel.

This is what the director of the film Milan Luthria, who feels there are no pure biopics has to say about the authenticity of biopics in Bollywood, "There are so many real life stories, but they are not pure biopics as entertainment is added to facts. When you go for a pure biopic, then it might get a little boring," said Luthria.
