Many people do not eat in a healthy way because they are unaware of the ABC's of nutrition. Your body is similar to finely tuned machine and when you do not put the right fuel into it, your body will not function correctly. This is the reason that you should know the ABC's of nutrition.

Food can be basically divided into 4 categories:

Protein: this is used by the body for building and repairing muscles. You can get protein from meat, pulses eggs and some from whole grains. This is one of the most important foods to know about when you learn the ABC's of nutrition.

Carbohydrates: release energy quickly and for this reason when eaten in excess can build up fat cells. However do not be deceived by the low carb or no carb diets. ABC's of nutrition facts have proved that we need some carbohydrates as these contain essential sugars called polysaccharides. They come from grains, and sugars. The best carbohydrates come from whole grains.

Vitamins and minerals: is another essential part of ABC's of nutrition. They are critical for the proper functioning of your body. If you do not take enough of these vitamins and minerals you will be very sick and can even die. These substances can be found in fruits and vegetables.

ABC's of nutrition elements of a healthy diet:

Water: a large percentage of our bodies are made up of water. Water is the most important element in our lives. If we go without it for just a few days we will die. Surprisingly enough few of us drink enough water. ABC's of nutrition facts tell us that we should consume at least 8 glasses of fluid a day and that most of this should be water.

Fiber: it is an important part of the ABC's of nutrition to get enough fiber in your diet. This will improve your digestion and allow your body to work better.

Now you know the ABC's of nutrition you can eat better and enjoy a healthier lifestyle.
