Apple’s iOS 6 has been launched and Microsoft has recently unveiled the next generation of Windows Phone OS. On the other hand, Google is planning to release its latest version of Android codenamed “Jellybean”. Microsoft has released two variations of its latest OS, Windows Phone Pro and Windows RT. For now, they will power two different models of the table Surface; however, nothing has been clued about the detailed features, release data and price. So we are comparing iOS 6, Android 4.0 and currently available Windows Phone 7.5.

While iOS 6’s latest features does already exist in competing platforms, e.g. Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich yet Apple is trying hard to show its products exclusive with 200 updates. Siri, for example, is the strongest card of Apple. The virtual assistant is supposed to do a number of operations when you say it to do that. With iOS 6, Siri has become even smarter and offers support for sports, movies and restaurants. Now it can also launch third party apps on your voice, but cannot control them.

Apple has also replaced Google Maps with its own mapping service Maps. This ...
... app is now available with iOS 6. The Maps by Apple covers a lot of services, such as business information, yelp integration, real time traffic updates and turn-by-turn navigation.

So where do Apple iOS 6, Android 4.0 and Windows Phone 7.5 stand today? Can these three be compared? Let’s have a look on currently available features of three leading platforms by three leaders in the global computer and software industry.

Maps
Both iOS 6 and Android 4.0 have Turn by Turn Directions features. But WP7.5 misses it. All three have 3D/Fly-over/Aerial Mode. Excepting Android 4.0, no platform has street view feature.

Voice
For dictation, all have their own software regardless of the fact that Siri is one of the best Voice assistants so far.

Photo Streaming
iOS 6 has Integrated Facebook, Android does it through Google+ and on WP 7.5, you can stream your photos via SkyDrive.

Notifications
Both iOS 6 and Android 4.0 (and earlier Android versions) have notification features but WP 7.5 drops it.

Social Networking
iOS 6 comes with integrated Facebook while Android users can download Facebook for Android as third party app. Windows also provides social accesses via third party apps. Same is the case with Twitter.

Video Chatting
You will need Wi-Fi or 3G for video chatting on iOS and Android 4.0 while you can do it on WP 7.5 through third party apps with Wi-Fi or 3G.
Messaging: Cross Platform

All of three platforms feature support for messaging on cross platform.

Device Recovery
When it comes to device recovery, Android 4.0 does not have this feature while iOS 6 and WP 7.5 provide support for device recovery.
