Darjeeling, the summer capital of Kolkata is also known as the Queen of the hills. Thronged by millions of tourists all the year around, this beautiful hill-station is home to a plethora of attractive tourist spots. As soon as a traveler seeks to enter this mysterious town by the Himalayas, the area enchants you soon. The toy train being the preferred mode of travelling to Darjeeling, meandering through the picturesque village, green valleys, forests, lush tea gardens, gorges and the gurgling of streams, the city is both unforgettable and beautiful.
The five must see tourist spots:
The Tiger Hill: Situated atop 2590m above sea level, this is the highest point of Darjeeling. Located 13 km away from the town, this area is famous to view the beautiful sunrise. As the rays caress the sides of the mountains, and the majestic Kanchenjunga comes into view, the tourist can feel the new dawn. In addition, if luck prevails, and the sky is clear, one can even see Mt. Everest. The entire northeast Himalayan range can be seen from here.

Passerby Ropeway: Considered one of the oldest ropeways of the country, the Darjeeling ...
... Rangeet valley ropeway is both beautiful and dangerous. The ticket can be booked from the officer in charge of the station. Situated at the distance of three kilometers, the ropeway covers some of the most dangerous gorges on one side and luxurious tea gardens on the other.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute: Set up by Tenjing Norgay, this place is a mountaineer’s delight. With all possible tools available here, one can even enjoy the nearby zoological garden. The zoo has some exotic mountain animals like civets, yaks, Siberian tigers, and red pandas.

The Mall: Easily recognized as the commercial hub of the area, the Mall belongs to lovers, young shoppers, and those who simply love a walk among the green and the white. With Himalayan artifacts and Tibetan handloom being the primary sale, the Mall is beautiful, calm, and located within the lap of the white Himalayan Mountains.

Dhoom Gompa: About 8kms away from Darjeeling, the place is famous for its Maitrayie Budha. The monastery also boasts of rare handwritten manuscripts.

Darjeeling is a perfect balance of flora and fauna, nature and the mountains, the green gorges and the beautiful streams etc. It is this harmony of the serene and the scenic that it draws millions of tourists every year. However, there are many other exotic places to see like that Batasia Loop, Rock Gardens, Ghoom Monastery, Aloobari Temple, Kali temple, and the Lloyd’s Botanical Garden, Darjeeling remains to awe its travelers every time they visit.
