Usage of double quotes around a set of words will help Google to search for the exact set of words without any change in the web pages. For example: [“lush green grass”] will give pages that contain the exact phrase.

Not or (-)
If you want to exclude a particular word or phrase use, “not” or “-“symbol. For example: [-lush green grass] will find pages that contain only [green grass].

All the words typed in the search box will be searched by Google. If you are looking for pages that contain one word or the other word, “Or” operator or “pipe symbol (l)” can be used. For example: [lush l green l grass] will bring pages that have either lush or green or grass.

This is useful only in certain domains and to find lyrics in a song. Wild card is the “*” symbol. For example: [“lush green grass”research*.edu] will show pages that contain educational information.

Keep it short
Use fewer words in order to get good and accurate results. When more words are used, the results get limited.

The “~” symbol is used to get similar terms. For example: [~lush green grass – lush] will bring out pages that contain “plush green grass” and “dense green grass”.

Apart from the above, the music operator can be used to return content related to music. Movie operator can be used to check the title of a movie along with the city, state or zip code.
