Tractors Are Here To Stay
Tractors have been around since the 1800's. The very first engine powered tractors were introduced in 1868. They ran off of steam. In the early days the tractor were used to haul timber and to be used by family farms. The first gas powered engine was introduced in 1887 by the Charter Gasoline Engine Company. As you can imagine, the first tractor was very large in size. These beasts were popular in the timber industry. However, farmers and other smaller industries felt that the equipment was just too large and consumed a large amount of fuel. With farmers barely making ends meet, there was a need for a more compact tractor that was economical. Around 1910, the Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company (MS&M Co.) designed the Twin City "40" tractor. This tractor became very popular because they were more compact than the original tractors and were a lot more economical.
The tractor has many useful purposes. In the farming environment, you can attach various additional parts to the tractor that will dig up and toss the soil, develop seed planting lines, as well as assist in cutting down vegetation and crops like ...
... wheat and corn. The invention of the tractor saved many hours of manual labor and basically cut the time in half. Farmers were now able to plant crops quicker. In addition they were able to plant larger fields of crops. This allowed the farmer to earn more money than they were typically accustomed to.
Today there are a wide variety of tractors available. The compact utility tractor is used by landscapers a lot because of its compact size. It is used to maneuver around landscapes easily. It too can be used for planting and harvesting on a smaller scale. Common attachments for this smaller tractor includes the box blade, the landscape rake, the post-hole digger, the rotary cutter broadcast seeder, and the rototiller. As you can see, there are several attachments, each with its own specific purpose. This is one invention that has made commercial and personal agricultural processes a lot easier.
The gardening tractor is a smaller piece of equipment that was created for personal gardening use. They are small, light and very simple to use. They can perform many of the functions of a larger tractor but on a much smaller scale. They are mainly used for small residential and commercial gardening purposes. As you can see, the tractor has come a long way over the years.
