A Proverbial English Teacher

During his last summer holiday at university, (http://www.topthomassabo.com/)Bill decided to go traveling because travel broadens the mind. But he also found that it emptied the pockets. Never mind, he said to himself, money is the root of all evils. Or at least it's something you can't take with you when you die. There are many things more important than money. For example, health is better than wealth. Now it's time to get down to business. Bill decided to become a teacher, although his father said those who can, do; those who can t, teach. He tried his best — if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well. Bill decided the early bird catches the worm and he kept telling his students that early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. But his students didn't share his opinion. They said, better late than never. Bill's warning of a stitch in time saves nine always fell on deaf ears. When the class was too noisy, Bill would shout, "Silence is golden. Don't you know still waters run deep?"In the English speaking class, Bill encouraged the students to speak by saying practice makes perfect. He instructed them to make hay while the sun shines and strike while the iron is hot. Professors may not notice whether you attend a large lecture, but you could notice later on. Some professors use lectures to discuss material not found in the reading on which they will base an exam. Others stress key points. If you must miss a lecture, get the notes promptly. If too much time elapses, the notes will make less sense than second-hand notes normally do. Never fall more than a week behind in reading. If you don't do the reading, you won't understand the lecture.SEEKING HELP. You may attend every calculus class, do each assign- ment and still watch your grades go down. Or maybe you missed more classes than you should have. Get help. Most professors are very willing to talk about their courses. Just don't wait until a week before the mid-term exam.THE MAJOR CHOICE. For a minimum of $4,000 a year and four years of your life, you expect a degree and a job — when it's over. Why not major in computer science or business and be more assured of work after graduation? It is quite appropriate to view college as a broadening experience, a preparation for life. Indeed, many college students do not select their ultimate career path until after they graduate As soon as he left, they put this into practice. It was a matter of when the cat is away, the mice will play.Once, Bill forgot to mark the students' homework, so he asked them to mark each other's. In the ensuing silence he started to congratulate him-self, " many hands make work light." But wait! Don't count your chickens before they are hatched. Sometimes too many cooks spoil the broth. Sure enough, the students finished their task and called out the marks they had given each other. They were all the same! Bill now realized if you want a thing done well, do it yourself. The students, on the other hand, all agreed with him — great minds think alike.Dismissing the students, Bill said to himself," Look before you leap next time" . He entered the staff room where the teachers are having a discussion. He found it hard to agree with his colleagues that the pen is mightier than the sword. He even began to favor the attitude of " spare the rod and spoil the child".( http://www.topthomassabo.com/bracelet-c-1.html)
