Indonesia is the world's largest island country with thousands of islands spread across parts of Southeast Asia and Oceania. It got its independence in the year 1945, with Sukarno as the first President of the country and Mohammad Hatta as Vice President. In terms of nominal GDP, the island nation has the 16th largest economy in the world today. A major contributor to its GDP is tourism. Every year, millions of tourists from various parts of the globe make a trip to this country to explore its fabulous attractions.

Your holidays to Indonesia would give you the opportunity to unwind on the beautiful beaches of Bali. Among the most popular beaches on this Indonesian island is the Kuta Beach, which gives you ample opportunities to relax on its sandy stretch and to try some exciting water sports. Nusa Dua and Sanur are other popular beaches you can explore while holidaying in Indonesia. Besides the charming beaches, you'll also get to visit the majestic Hindu temples during your time spent in the island nation. Hinduism is practised a bit differently in Bali, as it incorporates several aspects of different religions. You’ll notice this difference when you explore the temples located on the island.

One of them is the Pura Tahan Lot, which has been built on a rock surrounded by the sea. It is one of the most famous temples located in Bali. A portion of the rock on which the temple has been built was beginning to deteriorate years ago. However, today it has been rebuilt. While enjoying your cheap holidays to Indonesia, you can make a trip to this popular temple and buy some attractive souvenirs that are displayed on the stalls nearby. Another interesting place to visit in the town of Ubud located in Bali is the Sacred Monkey Forest.

It would give you the chance to witness many of the long-tailed macaques that inhabit the forest. The Komodo National Park must not be missed during your holidays to Indonesia, as this is the place where you'll get to see the deadly komodos roaming around in their natural surroundings. This national park has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and covers five major islands and a few smaller ones. You may have to spend a significant amount for transportation, guides, entrance fee, and other services in order to witness the komodos. While exploring this park, you'll also get the chance to indulge in some adventures, such as hiking, canoeing, and snorkelling.

Located on the Borneo island in Kalimantan is Tanjung Puting National Park, which houses the largest population of orangutans in the world. It is the best place to watch these endangered species of monkeys in action. You can also witness the orangutans in their natural surroundings while exploring Bukit Lawang. The travellers who are unable to visit the island of Borneo get to this Sumatran tourist village to watch the orangutans. Yet another fantastic attraction worth visiting in Indonesia is the Gunung Rinjani, the country's second-highest volcano.
