Click A Smile - A Photography Contest By Akshaya Patra

All of us have experienced the trail of memories that surfaces at the sight of just one photograph. That’s the magic of photographs – they are timeless! From posed to candid, random to thematic, humane to wild, concrete to abstract – the world of photography spans across all genres, times, emotions, and dimensions - and it keeps expanding. Be it a professional or non-professional click, each photograph reflects some part of the photographer’s personality.
To explore the world of photography with children being the focus, The Akshaya Patra Foundation had initiated the ‘Click a Smile’, an annual online photography contest in 2013. Since then it has received an overwhelming response from across the world. Each year, Akshaya Patra receives more than 1,500 entries from across 70 countries. A child-centric NGO, Akshaya Patra implements the school lunch programme across 40 locations in 12 states in India. With this programme, the NGO aims at supporting education of children by providing the much-needed meal of the day. The Foundations uses the medium of food to spread hope and smiles among children of not-so-privileged backgrounds. Currently, this NGO is providing nutritious meals to more than 1.76 million children in India.
With an attempt to spread hope and smiles through photographs, Akshaya Patra has themed the photography contest around picture of smiling child or children. The photographs can be from anywhere in the world and in any setting – home, school, playground, or the neighbourhood. Below are the criteria for participating in the contest along with the terms of selection procedure:
•‘Click a Smile’ contest is open for all regardless of age and nationality.
•The contest encourages amateurs and professional photographers to participate.
•The entries for the photo contest must be submitted within 20 November 2018 - 30 December 2018.
•A maximum of three entries per participant is allowed.
•Photographs should be digital (JPEG format) and should be within the resolution range of 800 pixels to 4MB.
•All the participants must adhere to the registration process.
•There is no registration fee for participating in the contest.
•The shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of professionals from the photography industry.
•The winners of the photo contest will receive trophies, certificates, and gift vouchers.
