How To Use Gmail Confidential Mode
Total Articles: 146
Gmail has always remained a humongous email service across the word. Google also continues to work on its service to make it better day by day, and arguably, it is true. Gmail was launched with a new skin and themes but there something more that was hiding somewhere in it. It is not that the feature was out of reach, but it was not noticed before. Google made the confidential mode available recently with its amazing capability to send an email with a specific limit. You might be wondering about the confidential mode and want to know more about it.
Well, it is a feature which you activate to send an email with a specific time limit. On the set time limit that emails will be deleted automatically from the inbox. Hence there is no chance of being spied on by anyone, and you can keep your sent content in the email, out of reach. Though the emails can be found in the sender’s account still, confidential mode gives the confidence to send emails securely. Not only that, but a user can also choose for the email password protection. It sounds like a powerful mode to be breached.
Some criticism has also been made regarding the Confidential mode by security professional Christopher Budd. According to Budd, the malicious cybercriminals can create a duplicate link in the mode to collect the personal data and information. Though, people are excited to use the Confidential Mode feature in Gmail to send emails to their friends in spy mode. Let’s see the steps to enable the mode in Gmail.
Here, how to enable the Confidential Mode in Gmail
Open Gmail in your web browser.
Enter your Log in
Click Compose to send an email.
In the New Messages box, you will find Turn Confidential Mode ON/Off button at the bottom.
Click the button, and a Confidential Mode box will appear on the screen.
The box has several options embedded in it.
Click the Set Expiration drop-down button.
Now select time duration of expiration from one day to five years.
You can opt for Passcode as well.
If you want to passcode protect it, then select SMS Passcode.
If you have chosen for the passcode, then select Standard and then tap Done.
Now, tap Send to dispatch the email to the receiver.
If you have opted for the passcode, then Gmail will ask to add the receiver’s number.
Tap Add Missing Information. Now, add the receiver’s number.
Tap the check mark at the right corner.
The receiver also has to tap Send Passcode to get the SMS to unlock the email.
Now, it will have to enter the verification code that the company sent.
Now, tap Submit.
Now, the email can be read when the receiver enters the passcode sent on its phone. The feature is quite amazing that you can now put an expiration date on the email you sent to others. With it, the emails are kept away from the harmful hands that only want to collect the critical data. Google’s effort to make its Gmail service more convenient and reliable is appreciative.
