Coffee is one of the most liked beverages in the world. People like to drink coffee whenever they wish as a morning energy drink, late night study drink etc. We have many methods to brew coffee like Pour over method, French press method and many more. Do you know, coffee plant is a shrub-like plant that takes more than one year to grow and for flowering? It grows in the subtropical area. The major producing country of coffee is Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia, Ethiopia etc.

The two main commercially grown coffee plants are Coffea Arabica and Coffea canephora. Dark green oval-shaped leaves and large bushes, coffees have this type of structure. Coffee fruits or we can say cherries get matured within 7 to 9 months. The coffee beans are round shape and it contains 2 flat seeds, when one only grows then it is called peaberry.
The major category in which all the beans falls are:
#Arabica: Arabica coffee is one of the most popular and demanding coffee. It has superior quality, with a touch of delicacy and richness. It taste gives another level of mouth satisfaction, and little acidic favour will give you an exceptional taste.
It is grown at a higher altitude, which makes it little difficult for harvesting. Hence, it is costly to grow. The price of Arabica coffee is higher as compared to Robusta.
#Robusta: The second most grown coffee is Robusta and Vietnam is the major producer of it. It has high acidic and harsh flavour as it contains a higher level of caffeine. It is grown at the lower altitudes, hot climate, and less moisture.
So, as of now, we have come to know about types of coffee beans, now we will look at some of the roasting types. Here we go.
The coffee we drink in our day to day life gone through the various process before reaching to us. And the main part is roasting, the green coffee is roasted before brewing. Roasting plays an important role in the preparation of coffee. Roasting is of different varieties such as light golden brown, dark, etc. it significantly affects the taste, flavour, aroma and colour of the coffee we drink.
The main category of roasting are:
Light: Light roasting method, provides origin flavour of the coffee, it retains the natural quality of coffee, gives a delicate flavour to coffee, and it can be more acidic. The beans are light in body as they pass through light roasting, which means they are not roasted long to produce caramelized sugars or oil.
Medium: Medium-roasted beans have full flavour body, they have dry surface and chocolate brown in colour. This method provides beans which are less acidic in nature and have slightly sweet in taste. It is also known as Regular roast and full city.
Dark: Dark roasting gives a caramelized flavoured coffee beans. In this method, coffee beans are roasted until or unless the sugars start to caramelize and it's oil start to come out. The beans after the Dark roasting appear oily or sheen. It provides strong, rich, spicy and smoky flavoured coffee beans. Because it overpowers the original flavour of the coffee, the low-quality coffee bean is used.
