American food is greasy and rich and yet is about tastefulness. People here grab a grub whenever they feel like. A short flavourful journey about American food has been described here. Get a know-how about the different food that you may chance upon while on a visit to this colourful country.

Apple pie: seemingly the most popular among other dishes that you get in parts of North America, the apple pie is a sweet treat you will not want to ignore. It lets you end the main course on a sweet note. The buttery pie is sweet and packed with apple slices and its extraordinary taste makes it a must have during meals. A lot of people simply like to improve the taste more and more by adding in extra ingredients; something non-traditional to the authentic recipe. However gourmands are usually driven towards its old-style taste.

Hamburger: Well yes! This is possibly one of the most sought after foods that you get entirely across North America. Apart from reigning over the American food priority list, hamburgers have become quite popular in other countries as well. The fast food is heavy and flavourful, packed with burger buns, patty and veggies. The burgers are never complete without an ample amount of cheese being poured into it.

Clam Chowder: If you are going to Boston and have no idea about the food that makes it famous then try out the Clam Chowder, a typical New England food which is sinfully tasty. A scoop of clam chowder is enough to let you go head over heels for the dish. It’s a major tasty invention comprising quahog shellfish, potatoes, heavy cream, herbs and sometimes a good proportion of pork. Get a bread and come up with a bowl if you really think you must not miss out on this overtly tasty food.
Texas Barbecue: a barbecue on the weekend is everything you will want to have and it’s known to all that the Texans swear by it. It’s a weekend practice and believe it or not people here seem to be quite obsessive with the tenderising rubs and smoked meat.

Hominy grits: This is a typically southern American food and if you like to keep your palate reserved for a good quantity of waffles and chicken then, this is it. Hominy grits are made with corn, powder which are boiled with onion and butter and sometimes a good spread of bacon grease. If you are not in America and yet want to taste the food from the country, try out the Cosmos restaurant in London. They will serve you with the same taste.
