Do you want to live in the Mid-Atlantic United States, but not too near the Eastern seaboard? Are you looking to live in a metropolitan area with low cost of living and ample job opportunities? Do you want access to various cultural activities on a regular basis that would be near your home? Do you enjoy spending time throughout the year attending a variety of professional sporting events? Moving to Pittsburgh, PA may be something to consider if you answered yes to the above questions. Pittsburgh is part of the East Coast, although it is very close to Ohio in the Midwestern United States. This means that many of the residents of the Pittsburgh area maintain a Midwestern value system. One of the top 30 metropolitan areas in the United States; Pittsburgh contains about 2.5 million people. This population density means there are many opportunities to make a decent living for yourself. Pittsburgh has long been known as a city for manufacturing, particularly the steel industry. There are many job opportunities outside of these industries, which have fallen from their hey-days. You can find employment at one of the dozens of colleges & universities in the area, like Carnegie Mellon. Top tech firms like Google, Apple, Facebook, Nokia and IBM also create many local tech jobs. Pittsburgh is also home to top law firms, as well as Fortune 500 companies with regional headquarters. If you are in the medical field, you would appreciate over 100,000 job positions locally for the industry. If you find skyscrapers visually appealing, you will have some good views if you move to Pittsburgh. Downtown Pittsburgh (the Golden Triangle), contains a mix of 30 commercial & residential skyscrapers. You will also find numerous museums and art galleries in the Cultural District section of downtown. If you like to stay in touch with nature, you can find numerous activities to fulfill this need. You can visit the Pittsburgh Zoo, PPG Aquarium, Phipps Conservatory, Botanical Gardens and National Aviary. Sports fans can take in regular games for the Steelers (football), Pirates (baseball) & Penguins (hockey). So, there is much for your eyes to see during your free time on the nights and weekends in Pittsburgh. You can also count on exposure to a variety of European cultures and cuisines during your residence. Pittsburgh has been noted many times as one of the most livable cites, due in part to the reasons mentioned above.
