AEG was a German producer of electrical equipment founded in Berlin in 1883 and initially produced electrical equipment such as light bulbs, generators, and motors. It expanded considerably during the first half of the 20th century and invented the hair dryer in 1900, among other things. In 1903, an AEG equipped experimental rail car achieved a speed of 210.2 km/h on a test track and it held this record until 1931. By 1910 it was building aircraft, and in 1929 produced its’ first compressor driven refrigerators and temperature controlled irons. In 1935 it produced the forerunner of the tape recorder. The company also produced steam locomotives and film projectors.
However, in the 1970’s the company ran into difficulties and in 1985 was bought out by Daimler-Benz. It continued to make a loss and was finally dissolved in 1996.
In 2005, the brand rights were acquired by Electrolux and many products are manufactured under the brand including power solutions, energy devices, telecommunication devices (phones and mobile phones), automation, car accessories, home appliances, power tools, projectors, printing equipment and supplies, water treatment devices, and personal care devices under the AEG brand.
Despite a long and magnificent history, when you see an AEG product today it is not manufactured by AEG, but the brand lives on thanks to its many past successes.
Today there are a large number of products carrying the AEG name, especially AEG refrigeration which includes frost free fridge freezers which are either free standing or integrated. Most of these hold 13 bags of food shopping and have door storage space which can be moved and switched around to suit the owner. They also come with reversible doors so that they can fit into any kitchen, whatever the layout.
You can also buy AEG washing machines and tumble dryers, along with washer dryers. The washing machines are designed so that they reduce energy and water use, and also reduce creases and thus ironing by a third. If you enjoy ironing as little as most people do that is a very big benefit indeed. The washing machines have also been tested for colour fastness over 50 washing cycles at 30 degrees.
Washer dryers are also produced which give you more space in the kitchen because you can do everything in one machine. In fact, there are 12 washer dryers in the range with different load capacities – both for washing and drying – spin speeds where you can have 1200 rpm, 1400 rpm, or 1600 rpm, a choice of two different motor systems, and the machines can be either free standing or integrated as you wish.
There are no less than 23 different tumble dryers available with different technologies such as vented dryers, heat pump dryers, and condenser dryers. You can select a dryer to suit your needs, so for instance if you use it less than four times a week you can use a 4 – 6 kg dryer. For 4 – 6 times a week you need a 7kg dryer which also has the ability to handle larger items like duvets and jackets, while if you dry more than 6 times a week you should get the 8kg version. It is suggested that you do not overfill your dryer, as it will dry faster: if you are in doubt, select a larger capacity than you think that you need. There is also a range of steam irons available.
As for cooking, you have probably never had such a choice. There are no less than 98 different ovens from which to choose such as an electric oven, a steam oven which they say gives crispier baking, and compact ovens. Control types can be bar cylinder standard, navigation wheel, pop in and pop out buttons, or touch control. Many of the ovens have features including soft closing doors, are self-cleaning, and have LCD displays. They also have cooking result choices so you can have your meat rare, medium, or well done just by selecting the appropriate control.
There are also hobs, cookers, cooker hoods, microwaves, vacuum sealers and warming drawers, and you can even get a boiling water tap. In addition to that you can also select from a range of vacuum cleaners. There is something for everyone in the AEG range.
Resource Box: NewLife Appliances supplies a whole range of different appliances for the home, including those with the well-known AEG refrigeration.
