India - the vibrant and colourful place on earth - is as diverse as its people. The assortment of art and culture, the potpourri of tradition, India stands as one of the oldest living civilization which has offered to the rest of the world the elemental sound ‘Om,’ the richness of yoga and the concept of zero.
Beautiful and vivacious, India is symbolized by the plurality of its culture. This country has one of the world’s largest collections of songs, music, dance, theatre, folk traditions, performing arts, rites and rituals, paintings and writings.
Indian and Foreign Art
You will also be glad to know that Indian and Foreign art have a great connect. Thanks to the geographical situation, the Indian subcontinent has been constantly fed by artistic traditions emanating from West and Central Asia. The Indian artist has shown a remarkable capacity for accepting these foreign influences naturally and assimilating and transforming them to accord with the nature of his own style.
Just like India received foreign influences, so has it successfully transmitted its own art abroad, particularly to the countries of Southeast Asia and Ceylon. Developments of great importance were thereby precipitated in Ceylon, Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, and Indochina, where the reinterpretation of Indian influences resulted in the creation of works of great originality.
Encouraging Performing & Visual Arts in School Children
In order to preserve the elements of art, various high schools in Bhayandar and other parts of the Mumbai have been organizing a number of schemes and programmes that aim to engage students in performing and visual arts.
Likewise, there are many CBSE schools in Dahisar and Mumbai where students are given the opportunity of getting their skills like dance, music, mime, movement, sculpture, painting and architecture tested by well-recognized colleges abroad. With eclectic audience and performers from all over the globe, these events are worth the watch.

Children who may be having difficulties in other parts of the school curriculum may find an expressive outlet through art. It’s a way to uncover talent that may not be seen otherwise
Activities in both visual and performing arts give students the opportunity to develop their creative skills, problem-solving skills and leadership skills in basic techniques. It also develops their abilities to communicate with their peers and express emotions and ideas. Moreover, children tend to become more confident, collaborative and dedicated towards life. Hence it's important that more and more high schools in Mumbai and other parts of the country start taking interest in implementing performing & visual art activity in the school curriculum.
